FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS & ORGANISATIONS

We love working with Community Groups and Organisations, especially those that make our program more inclusive!

Painting a traffic signal box is an ideal demonstration of creative community.

No need to apply and wait for boxes to be released. We can directly allocate eligible traffic signal boxes to community groups and organisations.

100 Years, 100’s of Stories

by Morningside School of Arts Inc Association

We want our humungous outdoor gallery to reflect the diversity of Brisbane voices – that means welcoming practitioners of all ages and abilities.

We know the many benefits that flow from creative practice – not just for the practitioners but for the wider community! – and these are amplified when the outcome is in public space. Artforce is as much about the joy, pride, team building, and other mental health and wellbeing benefits that flow from our projects, as it is about showcasing wonderful artworks and talented individuals.

Perhaps there is a traffic signal box located right outside your aged care facility, respite care centre, or support group meeting place? Or maybe your group members are keen to be seen further afield? We can find a suitable traffic signal box near you!

There are many approaches to this creative challenge and we support all of them, including:

  • Participants working under carer or mentor supervision
  • Member groups working collaboratively
  • Members or staff workers working as individuals with organisational endorsement

Artwork designs can feature themes, motifs, and messages relating to the community organisations OR they can be members’ individual creative efforts. Just be aware, designs cannot feature logos and be used as a promotional platform.

All artworks must be approved by the community group or organisation prior to submitting to Artforce.

We provide information to support the process – Design template and submission form, Participant Agreement, Artforce Manual, and Artwork Brief. Once the artwork design is approved by Council, we supply an equipment pack with paints and safety gear.

Our annual Artforce Awards have a category for best Organisation so prepare your best creatives for the spotlight!

It was great for the Artists to see how it evolved, and their ideas bought to life in the PUBLIC.

‘I was excited about being accepted into the project. At first, I was nervous and a little anxious whether or not I could do it and how others would perceive my artwork. I have a number of disabilities and every day is a challenge for me.

Once I started the project, I felt more confident about what I was doing. Also, it was really uplifting, especially when members of the public would toot their horns and speak to me from their cars and passers-by would stop and have a chat.

People were interested in what I was painting, and I loved the public interaction. It made me more aware of the community.

— Jim Petroff, Swara Disability Support Services

‘This project created a sense of connection, belonging, and recognition within and to the Brisbane community.’
