This artwork is based on the sunsets we see standing on the hills around the Western suburbs, especially after summer storms. The vibrancy of the sky as the colours change always looks like someone has painted it, with the bright yellows, golds, deep purples and pastels all blending so well together. Gardens and lawns always seem to spring to life after the storms, so the green grass around the base of the design with smattering of flower buds represents this.
I hope that the artwork will help anyone passing the box recall good memories of sunsets they have seen, either in Brisbane or travelling the world.
