Gill Williams

People sitting on the train

Brunswick St & Harcourt St, Fortitude Valley QLD
Gill takes his inspiration from the City of Brisbane and the invisible power that makes it operate. Electricity, Energy, Power, moves the people, keeps them connected – to expand that idea of energy further, moving is DANCING. It’s a metaphor for the joy, possibilities, opportunities, abundance, and celebration that come with a well serviced city.

DANCING ON THE RAILS

Gill Williams’ artwork, ‘People Sitting on the Train’, captures the invisible energy that keeps Brisbane moving.

Gill is a passionate artist who finds deep expression through bold, vibrant colour and a love for connecting with people. Supported by his Art Therapist, Berri Drum, Gill uses his creative practice to share how he sees the world, offering a window into his neurodiverse experiences with painting, dancing, and community life. For Gill, art is a vital way to foster connection beyond words, creating a shared understanding that he craves and celebrates through every brushstroke.

His artwork, ‘People Sitting on the Train’, serves as a tribute to the invisible power that operates the City of Brisbane, connecting the network of electricity-powered public transport infrastructure to the energy of community. Gill uses the train as a metaphor for the abundance and comfort that come with a well serviced city. His artwork reminds us of the rhythmic flow of community and the simple opportunities that keep us all connected.
