Morningside is said to be named for the sight of the morning sun catching the banks of the river. That’s the atmosphere which this artwork is trying to create. The bridge connecting to the cityscape is a symbol for its location close to the city with convenient public transport. The plane flying towards the sun is a symbol for its 24hr aircraft noise, which is another character of this suburb. Close shots are commonly seen plants near the riverbank.
As the TSB is in a prime location this would be a greeting and welcome sign for the viewers.
