This design is inspred by the vibrant energy and social network of Brisbane. Using a high-contrast palette of electric blue and bold black silhouettes, the artwork reflects the joyful, lively character of Clayfield. The composition features iconic Australian birds – the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, the Kookaburra, and the Magpie – interwoven through a fluid, organic branch structure.
The piece explores Brisbane as an interwoven narrative. Flowing black branches act as a lifeline, connecting diverse bird species into a single, unified composition. Though each bird is different, they share the same tree in harmony, symbolising coexistence, connection and community. The silhouettes capture a moment of stillness within a busy urban environment, where the tree provides both shelter and structure – a place for life to gather.
The tree itself represents strength and permanence, while the birds bring movement, voice and character. Together they celebrate the ‘connective tissue’ of our natural world: flora providing the stage, and fauna providing the song, existing in vibrant balance.
