Lucy Ruigrok

Cafe Dog

Station Rd & Riverview Tce, Indooroopilly QLD
The work is based primarily around the dog drinking coffee inspired by the local blonde border collie who often sits outside the corner cafe. The rest of the shapes and patterns are inspired by the local area. For example, the 70s vibe of the Eldorado cinema around the corner form the box, along with the shapes inspired from the Walter Taylor bridge and the Brisbane river. First painted in 2021 when Lucy was a student at Indooroopilly SHS, the box has been refreshed in 2024 and the artwork extended to cover a newly added top section to the traffic signal box.
