FOR SCHOOLS
We love working with Schools, Kindies, and Early Learning Centres! Painting a traffic signal box is an ideal creative challenge for school students.
No need to apply and wait for boxes to be released. We can directly allocate eligible traffic signal boxes to schools.

Perhaps there is a traffic signal box located right near the school just waiting to become a welcoming entrance feature?
Or maybe your students are keen to be seen further afield? We can find a suitable traffic signal box near you!
There are many approaches to this creative challenge and we support all of them, including:
- Students working under teacher supervision in school hours
- Students with family support painting in their own time at weekends or after school
- Students working in groups such as art clubs
- Students working as individuals doing their own thing
- Students working with a visiting artist from the community
Artwork designs can feature school motifs, designs, mottos, and messages OR they can be students’ individual creative efforts. Some schools send us many designs and get us to choose the one for painting.
That said, all artworks must be approved by the school prior to submitting to Artforce 🙂
We provide information to support the process – Design template and submission form, Participant Agreement, Artforce Manual, and Artwork Brief. Once the artwork design is approved by Council, we supply an equipment pack with paints and safety gear.
Equipment packs can be delivered directly to the school.
Our annual Artforce Awards have categories for best Primary School, Kindy & Creche and best High School, so prepare your future art stars for the spotlight!
This is what schools tell us about the benefits participating in Artforce Brisbane:
Creative challenge – creating bold eye-catching designs and learning about scale and viewing angles, form and colour.
Working together – building teamwork skills
Working in public space – learning about on-site painting and site safety
School pride – a lasting visible legacy
Community – connecting schools to their local neighbourhoods

Testimonials
We had a fantastic experience painting in the local community. While initially we felt we were giving back and making our local area more welcoming and beautiful, we ended the project feeling that the community had made us feel valued and connected. We had so many warm, positive and encouraging conversations with pedestrians walking past, who shared their love for the Dutton Park community as well as the wonderful work Artforce does for our area. Love heart emoji!

It has been an amazing experience for everyone. 😊 We loved being able to connect with our community through casual conversations. We have loved the opportunity to add colour to our local area.

‘It was a very enjoyable experience, I got to hang and with my family and cooperate with others. I even got to talk to other people who passed by about my art. I even learnt some things about painting whilst doing this.’
— Ava Hobart, student, The Gap State High School
