I am a textile artist, and have studied Fashion at TAFE on and off for over 20 years, at the Cavendish Road Campus. For nearly 10 years I have been making and entering Wearable Art works for the WearableArt Awards in New Zealand, an International design showcase.
The front panel features a fashion illustration of a wearable art garment inspired by Siamese Fighting Fish. This design began in an illustration class at BUNKA Fashion College when I was on a TAFE study tour to Tokyo, Japan in 2016. The back panel of the box features details of my 2017 entry into Wearable Art Mandurah. Anthozoa, meaning ‘flower animals’ references the sea anemones of our reefs, and their vibrant colours. Finally, on the last side panel, are two portraits of our beloved cat Mishka, who attended the Creek Road Cat Clinic many, many times over his 12 year lifespan, due to car accidents and subsequent trauma. We forged a wonderful relationship with the staff there. Mishka had a very distinctive voice, where he seemed to loudly demand WOOOOOOWWWW!!!!
