I chose to make my design pride-themed, to honour the LGBTQ+ community. It is a fairly simple design, with the colours of pride weaving across the entirety of the box and coalescing at the back. Hearts filled with an assortment of different pride flags cover the front and sides of the box, representing various identities. It ties into our local area through Indooroopilly State High School, and its commitment to accepting the diversity found within its classrooms. I would not say I was inspired by any particular artist, though I incorporated the winding shape of the Brisbane river. I want this design to be in a public space so that anyone who might be feeling out of place as a sexual or gender minority, knows there are others like them close by. I hope to make people like my friends feel accepted by their local community in a way many of them presently do not.
