FROM YARN BOMBS TO BRUSHSTROKES

‘Then and Now’, celebrates the rich history and natural landscape of Geebung.

Lea-Anne is a dedicated community creative known for her vibrant crochet ‘yarn bombs’ and her active support for wildlife carers. With a passion for making art accessible to everyone, she treats her creative projects as a gift to the neighbourhood. Through Artforce Brisbane, she translates this love for her community and the environment into a permanent medium, ensuring that local history and nature can be enjoyed by passers-by every day.

Her artwork, ‘Then and Now’, provides a layered visual history of Geebung. The design features dairy cattle on lush pastures as a nod to the suburb’s farming past, alongside the native jibung fruits from which the area takes its name. By incorporating local birdlife and bullrushes, Lea-Anne highlights the vital waterholes and precious wildlife still present in Geebung today.
