The Golden Pig

Wickham St & East St, Fortitude Valley QLD
It takes sweat to work on things, but it only takes saliva to criticise things. Much like this proverb this artwork is what can be described as people-centred. It not only holds personal significance, but ultimately revolves around the bringing together of different communities. People of an Asian descent may recognise that all the animals belong to the Chinese Zodiac, and with the ever-growing mix of cultural diversity within both Brisbane and the rest of Australia, chances are people of Western descent may be able to recognise this too. The artwork emphasises that diversity and community pride is the Australia’s biggest strength, much like the way Golden Pig is much stronger when surrounded by it
