Serpentine-Yarung

Fairfield Rd & Kadumba St, Yeronga QLD
A celebration of precious waterways and rich cultural and natural heritage, the serpentine form reflects the stretch of the river flowing through Yeronga, a placename thought to be derived from the Aboriginal words ‘yarung’ for ‘sandy or gravelly’ and ‘ba’ place. Water, sand, lilies and snake highlight the powerful but delicate nature of ecosystems while the serpent symbolises wisdom and renewal in myriad cultures, reflecting ancient life, eternal transformation and energy to create inclusive and sustainable societies in future.
