Artforce Brisbane
An initiative of Brisbane City Council

Our back yard

Milton Rd & Castlemaine St, Milton QLD
The painting is to remind us of the native fauna we have here in Brisbane. The pop art colour scheme is intended to be playful and inviting without being too serious. The art will hopefully be enjoyable whilst reminding us of our duty of care for our land and its creatures. Mates4Mates is a charity supporting Defence Force veterans who have been impacted by their service through injury or illness, and their families. Our Brisbane office is located at Milton, and we love to get our clients engaged in the community and expressing themselves through art is a great outlet as well. Australian Defence Force veterans were involved in the design and painting of the work.

About Mates4Mates

Mates4Mates is an amazing not-for-profit organisation established by RSL Queensland that supports current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members and their families impacted by service.

Mates4Mates’ Brisbane branch is in Milton, so it was a perfect opportunity for a group of veterans to paint the traffic signal box located on Milton Road and Castlemaine Street!

Their slice of Australiana artwork was both empowering for the veterans to connect with the community and also brightens up a corner of Milton.
