TIME & TIDE IN TENERIFFE

My Heart Belongs to 4005 by Tulasi Harrison (aka Ruby Blues) is a colourful tribute to the unique quirks and history of the Teneriffe area.

Tulasi, a self-taught artist who is passionate about public art, created this piece with support from Freshwater Apartments’ body corporate and owner Denise Buckby, where the box is located. Her design captures the spirit of Teneriffe in Ruby Blues’ playful and vibrant signature style.

Celebrating local landmarks and stories from the iconic Woolstore apartments to the old Bulimba Branch Railway line, the artwork also honours Teneriffe’s surprising history as a base for submariners during WWII. Nature plays a part too, with nods to the bush stone-curlews known for their eerie cries, and sharks reminding locals why swimming in the Brisbane River isn’t advised.

Tulasi adds a personal and light-hearted touch with a friendly dog, representing the many walkers along the river path, and hidden motivational words to lift the spirits of passing joggers. Through this joyful and quirky artwork, Tulasi reminds us of the special details that make a place feel like home.
