The traffic signal box is located in an uninteresting part of the street near a pedestrian crossing and busy bus stop, so we knew it needed to be bright and a bit of fun. Some of the other boxes in Sunnybank are painted in beautiful Asian-inspired designs so we thought it would be good to do something different. We thought this would be okay as the box is located away from the amazing restaurants Sunnybank is renowned for.
The design is a bright wrap around cartoon under-the-sea theme, loosely inspired by family favourites Finding Nemo and SpongeBob SquarePants. The blue gradient background is calming and provides a popping contrast to the bright multi-coloured sea creatures. Hopefully it makes people feel inspired and happy as they are walking to the bus stop or into the rear entry of the shopping centre. The bright colours and bold design will be eye catching to drivers.
