QUACKIN’ DOWN THE ROAD

Toby Nelson’s artwork, ‘Ducks of Abbotsford Rd’, brings a whimsical, feathered twist to a musical classic.

Toby is a dedicated artist whose passion for drawing is central to his daily life. As a mainstay of his high school art club, he has spent years admiring Brisbane’s traffic signal boxes and dreaming of contributing to the Artforce program. His work often reflects his observational humour and illustration skills, finding inspiration in everyday moments to share his creative energy with others.

‘Ducks of Abbotsford Rd’ is a clever play on words inspired by the Beatles’ iconic Abbey Road album cover. Reimagining urban commuters as the ducks frequently spotted near his home and Windsor Park, Toby anchors the piece in the familiar geography of this busy intersection. His lighthearted and quirky scene celebrates the unique character of Brisbane’s suburbs where natural life and urban development intersect in charming and unexpected ways.
