Curious Candles

Forest Lake Boulevard & Commercial Centre & High Street (Nth), Forest Lake QLD
Charlotte created the colourful candle design around the concept that this box sits near the entrance of a local shopping village area. This is a place where the community comes together to eat, share stories and gather supplies. There are a number of tasty cafes where past birthdays have been celebrated which inspired the final design. Charlotte hopes to give viewers something that is colourful, simple and interesting while they pass through the community.

MEMORIES OF CHILDREN'S BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Charlotte Harris’s ‘Curious Candles’ is a delightful artwork that was inspired by the box’s proximity to the entrance of Forest Lake Shopping Centre.

There are a number of cafés at the shopping centre where the community can gather to eat, catch up with friends, and celebrate.

Charlotte has travelled past the shopping centre many times, going to her friends’ birthday parties. These birthday parties are where the idea for Charlotte’s colourful, wiggly candles and background sprinkles came from!

Charlotte is a 9 year old who has been creating art since age 2, and she loves to express herself through the arts. Charlotte was assisted by mum, Zoe Baker.

You must be a resident of Brisbane ie. living within the Brisbane City Council area.
You must not be an employee of Brisbane City Council.
You must not have painted more than two traffic signal boxes in a four year period and not in consecutive years.
