The gnome represents a character the students are familiar with in my art room. This particular one is called Berni and he represents the ‘Berni’ values that are upheld by the students of St Bernard’s. The echidna represents Mt Gravatt / Kaggur mabul – ‘place of the echidna’ in Yuggara Aboriginal language. The birds were created by my art club and represent the inclusion of a diverse range of learners at St Bernard’s. I am hoping that the school community along with the wider community enjoy another of my gnomes popping up and perhaps get a ‘selfie’ with him.
