We have taken inspiration from the local flora and incorporated a Jacaranda tree as central to our design. Jacarandas are quintessentially Brisbane, and each year the explosion of purple across the hills surrounding The Gap hails the start of Spring. Many times our group has gathered at the base of the Jacaranda trees in nearby Walton Bridge Reserve lost in conversation with the blooms softly raining down on our heads. The branches of our tree form a Trefoil which is symbolic of the Guiding movement. We have included Guide Badges to symbolise the practical skills that are developed by all Girl Guides and the word Ranger to represent our section of the Unit. Rangers are the final rank before moving to adult guiding, hence the title of our design ‘A Season as a Guide’.
