Among the Magical Trees

O'Keefe St & Gillingham St, Woolloongabba QLD
This artwork is inspired by my love of nature and the sense of peace and energy I get from being surrounded by trees. It draws on the idea of “shinrin-yoku (森林浴)”, or “forest bathing”, taking time to slow down and reconnect with nature. The forest of tall trees creates a small escape from the busy urban environment of Woolloongabba. I wanted to bring a feeling of nature into a place where it can be easy to feel disconnected from it. The shooting star brings a sense of magic and wonder to the forest, and into everyday life. The design was created by my brother, who lives far away and has never been to Brisbane. Having his artwork here feels like bringing a little piece of him into my life in Brisbane.
