Jacquelyn Schofield

New Farm in Bloom

Brunswick St & Merthyr Rd, New Farm QLD
This work celebrates the neighbourhood of New Farm, where jacaranda trees, parkland and the Brisbane River meet the city beyond. Through bold colour and pattern, the painting captures the energy, warmth and joy that define this riverside suburb. The scene is intentionally stylised and childlike, inviting the viewer to connect with the emotional character of the place rather than a literal representation. The work acknowledges the influence of Brisbane artist Debra Hood’s distinctive use of colour and pattern; however, it was not created by Debra Hood.
