My artwork “Auf Wiedersehen, Alderley” is first of all a love letter to the suburb and its locals. I wanted to portray places that carry important milestones of me becoming a mum. Secondly the idea was I thought the location of the box is the perfect place to use it as a navigation tool. Driving towards the city I have illustrated the Newmarket pool. I took my son there for his swim lessons. Although it being technically in Newmarket, I have found it to be a place Alderley locals use for making their own summer memories. Driving away from the city you can see the illustration of Grinstead Park, which is a beautiful park always full with kids laughter and bike races. We spend many hours having fun on the slide, fueling up the bike and jumping on the trampoline. The Brickworks tower is illustrated on the side, as you will always know from the distance you are getting to Alderley when seeing the iconic tower. And the fourth side is showing the famous rocking horse ride which has been around for 40 years. I was also told honey is being sold throughout the suburb so I wanted to include that as well.
