Smokey Daze

Northern Busway & Lamington Avenue, Lutwyche QLD
“Smokey Daze” is an art piece that is catered towards the youth’s aesthetic appreciation and provides insight for other age groups to what these youths admire in art. This artwork is vibrant and colourful with patterns all around, the amount of creativity in this piece fits in its local area because of nearby vibrant art stores like Eckersley’s Art & Craft store. In “Smokey Daze,” the use of skeletons blowing out smoke isn’t just for looks, but holds an important message. The blue skulls, set against the backdrop of yellow with pink smoke rising from the mouths serves as a warning of the dangers of smoking. As said before, this caters towards the youths of today aesthetically, but also meaningfully, because of the rise of vaping within these youth communities it’s important to remind them of the consequences for their health. So the skeletons allude to the dark future some people may have if they keep this unhealthy lifestyle. This piece serves as a visual symphony that speaks directly to the hearts of anybody, resonating with their unique tastes and sensibilities. Whether they’re passing through on the bus or exploring the streets of Lutwyche, “Smokey Daze” offers a sanctuary of aesthetic delight — a place where they can find solace and inspiration amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life or as a reminder of the dangers of smoking/vaping.
