Shopping in the Suburbs

Creek Rd & Winstanley St, Carindale QLD
The traffic signal box that I’m painting is located across the road from Carindale Shopping Centre. When I think about Carindale the suburb, I automatically think of the shopping centre. I think of time spent browsing through the shops, catching up with friends and enjoying a delicious meal in one of the restaurants. It’s a place to eat, drink, and laugh; to shop, play and discover.

Carindale is a Place to Eat, Drink, and Laugh

Local Brisbane artist Jamie Young’s ‘Shopping in the Suburbs’ artwork was inspired by this box’s location right across the road from Westfield Carindale!

Jamie is passionate about creating art that tells stories about the people and world around us, and that is reflected in her fun design. She has fond memories of time spent in the Carindale shopping centre – browsing the shops, catching up with friends, and enjoying delicious meals at the restaurants inside. If you’ve been in Westfield Carindale before, you might even recognise the quirky and distinct carpet pattern in Jamie’s design!
